Hang with me, this gets cool!
He said, “Listen carefully, all [you people of] Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat. The Lord says this to you: ‘Be not afraid or dismayed at this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
2 Chronicles 20:15 AMP
So the kingdom of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest on all sides.
2 Chronicles 20:30 AMP
The battle is not yours, but God’s.
The battle is not yours, but God’s!
The battle is not yours, but GOD’S!!!
I’ve heard this many times but it hit me differently this morning when I read it. My husband and I are dealing with some financial issues. We’ve been praying for God to help us be good stewards, teach us to balance what little we have. It’s very difficult. It feels overwhelming. I feel anxious thinking about writing everything down that we owe and what’s left. I feel I have to fix everything right now!
But when I read that verse this morning, it hit me differently. Even this, this is not my battle. Even this that isn’t even related to the kingdom of God is not my battle. It’s a little thing in the light of God’s kingdom but God still cares about it and wants to help me with it. It’s not my battle!
What does that mean though? That I just sit back and do nothing? No. The Israelites still had to go out to battle but they did not have to worry about the outcome. I will still have to manage everything. I will still have to organize and put money where it belongs but God is in the outcome. He is at the end and will bless it and give me victory.
Then after the battle, the kingdom was quiet. The kingdom had rest because of the victory.
When God is involved, there is peace. He is guiding me through and providing and directing and giving me peace and success in the end. And because I know there will be peace and success in the end, I have peace now before and during the process.
God is fighting our battles! We need only be still, we need only be filled with peace! We can simply relax as we go with the flow as God directs. We are in His hands.
