James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning
If it is in your life and it is good, it is from God. Really think about it. Everything good in your life has been thought of by God and given to you by God. It is a gift from God. God loves you so much that He has given you everything you love and like and that is good in your life.
And of course, thinking about why we celebrate Christmas, He loves you so much that He became flesh. He gave you Himself.
Each one of us has a soul and everything that happens to us spiritually is retained in our soul. Our growth, revelations, our prayers are all retained in our souls. When Jesus became flesh, He had a human soul and everything He went through on earth was retained in His human soul. He lived a life of teaching, giving, growing in the Lord, gaining revelations, and performing miracles. He lived a life free of sin so that He could take our sin so it couldn’t be confused with His own. He took our punishment on the cross. He tore the veil to be closer to us, so we can come to him any time and not have to rely on man. Then after all of that, He filled us with His spirit, His whole self, that spirit that retained all he had done on earth so we can pick up where He left off and have the mysteries and love of God inside of us.
He went through all that trouble because He loves us! Everything good has been given to us from a God who loves us. Just like our earthly parents love us and want what’s best and good for us, God does the same thing.
So this Christmas season, I want to focus on the gifts of God. I know everything I receive that is good, God allowed it because He loves me. I also want to remember how great His love is that He would give me himself, the ultimate gift.
